Yes its another Scandi female singer. We’ll stop writing about them when the region stops producing them by the bucket-load. Stockholm’s MIYNT has burst onto the scene with her debut track Nick Drake. Polished layering in production – check, delicate and airy vocals – check, but there’s something slightly unruly about this song that sets it apart from the exacting sonic standards of artists like Susanne Sundfør or the pop perfection of partially forgetten gems Those Dancing Days.
“We don’t care about the radio” chimes the chorus as the messy drum patterns create a base for simple piano movements and a xylophone that provides a tweeness that far from distracting, unifies the sound into something really satisfying. What it lacks in the requisit catchiness of the Scandi-scene it more than makes up for in style and substance. Fresh.
